Data Protection Act
Programme Summary
This course is designed for all levels of employees who hold or have access to personal data (manual or computerised) on clients, suppliers or employees.
Workshop Objectives
Delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a working understanding of the Data Protection Act 1984
- List and apply the 8 Data Protection Act Principles
- Comply with their company's Data Protection procedures within the terms of their Data Protection Registration.
- Demonstrate a working understanding of the Data Protection Act 1984
- List and apply the 8 Principles
- Comply with their Data Protection procedures including working within the terms of their Data Protection Registration
- Development of an Action Plan
The workshop is informal, fully participative with active discussions and group work. OHP or Powerpoint and TV presentations will be used.
A follow up visit is recommended for delegates to review their findings and Action Plans- this session could consider:
- What data is held
- How it is safeguarded
- How it is updated
- Methods of "destroying" out of date data
- What to do if individuals require access to data held about them
Each course is of 2/3 hour duration and makes reference to other relevant legislation.
It is suggested a more in depth workshop is organised to cover the Human Rights Act and other Employment Law issues required by the client.
